BACH SUITES IN THE SYNAGOGUE – CELLO RECITAL BY PÁL BANDA
Johann Sebastian Bach wrote six cello suites around the1720s, however not much is known about the circumstances of the compositions. Although the original manuscript of the Cello Suites has not been found, a true copy by Anna Magdalena Bach a few years later and other 18th century copies have survived.

Pál Banda Cellist
Pál started to play the cello at the age of 9. He studied at the Liszt Academy of Music with his father Ede Banda, Gyorgy Kurtag and Ferenc Rados. He later pursued further studies with renowned cellist Ralph Kirshbaum. In 1982 received a commendation in the Moscow International Tchaikovsky competition, and the following year won 1st prize in the Popper competition in Budapest. In 1983 Pál was invited by Sandor Vegh to become principal cellist in the Camerata Academica, Salzburg. Pál has performed as soloist all over Europe. He has given master classes in the USA, Greece, Singapore, France, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, Hungary and England. Since 2012, he has been the cellist of the English Piano Trio
